6 February 2024With good wishes for a Happy Hogmanay and all the very best for 2024, Associated Clan MacLeod Societies present an online version of Tales and Legends of Skye. Produced in 2016 by Peter and Wendy Macleod and originally sold in DVD format, a remastered version is now presented as free to view from our ACMS YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/xDjRj2oB3Sw
Tales and Legends of Skye takes us on a journey round the north end of the misty Isle of Skye and stops at the locations where long ago the events unfolded – at these beautiful spots, prominent members of Clan MacLeod tell of the legend or tale that took place in that spot to the background of the misty hills and sparkling seas. Hear the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s epic journey across Skye in the summer of 1746 after Culloden and eventual escape thanks to Flora MacDonald, the momentous visit of Dr Samuel Johnson and James Boswell some 30 years later, stirring tales of Dunvegan Castle, stronghold of the MacLeods for 800 years, of the rocky ruins of Duntulm Castle, the Faerie Bridge and more. The original DVD cover with a map of the locations and listing the story tellers and cameraman Andy Elliott can be found here.
Please do share with all members of Clan MacLeod, family and friends who might be interested. And wherever in the world you might live, please also consider joining your local Clan MacLeod society if not already a member – we’d be delighted to have you with us! A very Happy New Year to you all!
