‘Dame Flora’, registration G-LEOD, is a Pietenpol ‘Air Camper’ and was hand built by my late father and Clan MacLeod Society of England member Ian McLeod, completed in 2008. She has flown approximately 100 hours over the fields of Kent, and is easy to spot in her yellow MacLeod tartan colour scheme.
The Air Camper is a 1920’s design monoplane, popular amongst amateur builders. My father’s project brought together his twin passions for flying and craftsmanship. She featured in the April 2023 edition of the Clan MacLeod Magazine (no. 136), and you can read her full story there.
We are very pleased to report that this unique plane has now been sold to Scot with MacLeod antecedents based in Yorkshire.
Previous owner Andrew McLeod has expressed gratitude to the ACMS Council for helping to facilitate Dame Flora’s journey to its new home!
